Agartala, July 7 (FD) The Tripura Government's Education (School) Department has issued a notification making it mandatory for all schools across the state to begin the academic day with the full version of the National Song, Vande Mataram, immediately followed by the National Anthem, Jan-Gana-Mana.
The directive, issued on July 3, 2026, has been implemented in accordance with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on January 28, 2026, concerning the proper respect, decorum, and official rendition of the National Song.
The order is applicable to all government, government-aided, and privately managed schools in Tripura, including government-aided and unaided recognised madrassa schools.
According to the Education Department, the initiative aims to strengthen national integration, foster a sense of patriotism among students, and ensure uniform observance of protocols relating to national symbols. Under the new guidelines, the school day will commence with the community singing of the complete version of Vande Mataram, followed immediately by the National Anthem.
The notification also makes it mandatory for all students, teachers, and administrative staff to stand in attention whenever the National Song is sung or played, as a mark of respect and in accordance with the prescribed protocol.
The decision was approved by the Tripura Council of Ministers at its meeting held on June 25, 2026, before being formally notified by the Education Department.
The notification, signed by Rajib Datta, Additional Secretary to the Government of Tripura, came into effect on July 3, 2026. FD JK
