Agartala, Aug 17 (FD) The Tripura Government has launched the T-RISE (Tripura Registry & Integration for Startup Ecosystem) Portal, an integrated digital platform aimed at strengthening the state’s startup and innovation ecosystem by connecting entrepreneurs with mentors, investors, corporates, incubators, academic institutions and government departments on a unified platform.
The portal was launched during the ‘Building a Unicorn in Tripura’ workshop organised at Pragya Bhavan, Agartala, by the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, in collaboration with T-Hub, Hyderabad, one of India’s leading startup ecosystem and innovation platforms.
The workshop sought to inspire and equip emerging entrepreneurs in Tripura to build high-growth, scalable and globally competitive ventures. A unicorn refers to a privately held startup valued at more than $1 billion, and the initiative aims to create the ecosystem and institutional support necessary for entrepreneurs from the state to aspire to build such high-value enterprises.
The initiative is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting startups as engines of innovation, employment generation and economic growth as part of the broader goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
According to an IT Department press release, the Tripura Government has been working under the Startup India framework to build a stronger startup ecosystem through progressive policies, institutional mechanisms and strategic partnerships.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and the guidance of Information Technology, Finance and Planning & Coordination Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, the state has introduced a new sector-agnostic Tripura Startup Policy aimed at promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and employment generation across sectors.
As part of the policy framework, the Directorate of Information Technology has established T-NEST, the state-level incubation centre at the International Business Centre, Hapania. The centre is designed to provide startups with incubation facilities, mentorship, technical guidance, business support and market linkages.
The government has also entered into a strategic partnership with T-Hub as a knowledge partner to strengthen the implementation of the Startup Policy. The collaboration is expected to provide Tripura’s startups with access to wider expertise, accelerator programmes, industry networks and opportunities for collaboration.
A key feature of the newly launched T-RISE Portal is its single-window digital ecosystem approach. The platform is designed to bring together stakeholders from across the startup ecosystem on a common interface, enabling entrepreneurs to identify and access relevant support at different stages of their business journey.
According to the initiative, the platform will provide entrepreneurs access to a growing network of more than 20 mentors, over 10 investors, more than 10 corporates, incubators and domain experts. The support network will cover critical areas such as technology, finance, marketing, legal services and business strategy.
The portal will also facilitate structured and on-demand assistance, allowing startups to seek specialised support based on their stage of development and specific business requirements. The initiative is aimed at reducing barriers faced by early-stage entrepreneurs while improving access to expertise, investment and market opportunities.
Another key component of T-RISE is its effort to connect Tripura’s global professional community with the state’s emerging startup ecosystem. Technology professionals, entrepreneurs and domain experts with roots in Tripura will be encouraged to contribute their knowledge, experience and professional networks to support local entrepreneurs.
Through this global professional network, the state aims to create additional opportunities for mentorship, investment, strategic partnerships and access to national and international markets for Tripura-based startups.
The workshop also witnessed the exchange of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading industry partners. The agreements are aimed at strengthening government-industry collaboration and creating additional avenues for startup growth, innovation and investment in the state.
The programme was inaugurated by Information Technology, Finance and Planning & Coordination Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary to the Chief Minister and GA (Good Governance); Dr PK Goyal, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology and Finance; and Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director, Information Technology, were among those present.
Senior government officials, industry representatives, investors, startup founders, academicians and members of the innovation ecosystem also attended the programme. FD JK
