Agartala, May 16 (FD) In a major push towards strengthening digital administration and improving citizen-centric governance, the Tripura government on Friday held a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat to ensure the successful implementation of the 150-day special programme titled “Digital Governance Campaign” across various government departments.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary J K Sinha and attended by senior officials, including Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr P K Chakraborty, Secretaries Apurba Roy, Dr P K Goyal, Milind Ramteke, Abhishek Singh, Information and Cultural Affairs Director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, along with senior police officials, departmental secretaries and directors.
At the beginning of the meeting, Governance Department Secretary Kiran Gitte delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the various components of the campaign. He stated that the programme has been designed around nine major parameters aimed at modernising administrative functioning and enhancing public service delivery.
The key focus areas include strengthening digital ICT infrastructure, improving the quality and usability of government websites, expanding online Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and Government-to-Business (G2B) services, developing real-time dashboards, establishing efficient online grievance redressal systems, implementation of e-office systems, adoption of innovative technologies, utilisation of GIS-based tools and capacity building initiatives.
Gitte emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination, greater use of modern technologies and improving administrative efficiency to ensure the success of the programme.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary J K Sinha said the primary objective of the initiative is to transform Tripura and the country into a fully digital society. He stressed that genuine digital governance can only be achieved when every government department becomes integrated with digital working systems.
He highlighted the need for effective use of digital technologies to make government services faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly. Sinha acknowledged that large-scale reforms often face challenges, but urged officials to remain focused and committed to achieving the broader vision of digital transformation.
The Chief Secretary also underlined the importance of maintaining coordination and communication among departments. Referring to capacity building, he said the concept involves taking every section of society forward together and that such awareness should begin at the family level itself.
He encouraged officials to focus more on innovation and to spread awareness among the public regarding the benefits of digital systems. Sinha further noted that Tripura has already earned national recognition in several sectors, including administrative reforms and easing regulatory procedures.
He expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the 150-day Digital Governance Campaign and called upon all departments to work with sincerity and dedication.
District Magistrates from various districts and officials of the Quality Council of India also participated in the meeting virtually and shared their views and suggestions. FD SB
