Agartala, Sep 10 (FD) Tripura is all set to start a campus of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) from October 31 next at Nazrul Kalakshetra here and the academic activities will begin from November 7, Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Friday afternoon, state government and the SRFTI would soon put pen on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start the campus in the premises of Nazrul Kalakshetra, a state-run cultural hub and the state government has allocated Rs. 5.76 crores in the budget for the film institute project and Rs. 1.10 crores were already released for initiating the process.
In the beginning, the institution will run four courses and the notification for admissions would be published on September 20, Chowdhury said adding that the last date of submitting the application form for admission in SRFTI is October 20 next.
The application forms will be scrutinized from October 21 to till 30.
The four courses included are- courses on Film Appreciation, Production Management on Cinema and Television for four weeks and courses on Screen Acting for eight weeks, Anchoring and News Reading for media.
He said, initially all the courses would be free to encourage the students for enrollment.
Chowdhury said that the certificates will be given at the end of the course to the students on February 15, 2023.
The Information and Cultural Affairs department and Satyajit Roy Film and Television Institute will jointly supervise the film institute in the state, he said.
Chowdhury said, “There are plenty of those who are interested in films from neighboring states such as Manipur, Assam, West Bengal. The government has decided to set up the institute in the state with positivity. He hoped that there will be plenty of job opportunities based on this field.”
Tripura’s culture and tourism will be highlighted furthermore with the development of films in the state, Chowdhury said.
