Agartala, Mar 1 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated that the state government is earning public trust through the transparent implementation of various development projects. He made this remark while addressing the foundation stone-laying and land-worship ceremony of the Auxiliary Production Center of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in Purba Laxmibil under Bishalgarh Subdivision today. The center, initiated by ALIMCO under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is being set up on 5 acres of land to provide better opportunities for differently-abled individuals.
Northeast’s Progress Key to National Development
During his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized that India’s overall development is impossible without the progress of its northeastern states. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the rapid transformation of the region, stating that multiple projects are being executed to ensure sustainable growth.
Highlighting the significance of the artificial limb manufacturing unit, he noted that providing the right support and training to differently-abled individuals enables them to contribute effectively to society. "With proper assistance, differently-abled individuals can establish themselves and achieve great success. Several government schemes are dedicated to empowering them," he added.
Empowering Women and Boosting Industrial Growth
The Chief Minister also shed light on the remarkable progress made by women in the state. He stated that in recent years, 56,000 self-help groups (SHGs) have been formed, consisting of 4.5 lakh women members. These groups have received financial aid of approximately ₹700 crore, enabling them to become self-reliant across various sectors.
Furthermore, he noted that Tripura is witnessing a growing interest from industrial organizations looking to set up businesses in the state. He attributed this to the prevailing peace and harmony, which has created a favorable environment for investment. The government, he said, is dedicated to implementing the principle of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" (inclusive growth for all) in every developmental initiative.
First Artificial Limb Manufacturing Unit in Northeast
Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment and Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, Banwari Lal Verma, also attended the event. He highlighted that for the first time in the northeastern states, a factory of this kind is being established. This initiative, he said, demonstrates the Central Government’s commitment to inclusive development.
"The government is focused on ensuring that no section of society is left behind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision includes uplifting weaker sections, and the establishment of this unit is a step in that direction," Verma said. He further emphasized that differently-abled individuals are excelling in various fields, including sports, thanks to the government’s consistent support.
