Agartala, May 20 (FD) The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, on Tuesday organised a high-level stakeholder consultation programme on the draft Tripura AVGC-XR Policy in Agartala.
The consultation brought together senior government officials, industry experts, academicians, entrepreneurs and stakeholders from the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector to deliberate on the proposed policy framework aimed at fostering innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and employment generation in the State.
The initiative forms part of the State Government’s broader vision to create a future-ready ecosystem that promotes digital innovation, skill development and youth-centric employment opportunities in emerging technology sectors.
The programme was attended by Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, along with senior officials, directors from various departments and other dignitaries. The event commenced with a detailed presentation by Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, who outlined the State’s vision for developing a vibrant AVGC-XR ecosystem.
The presentation highlighted the key objectives of the draft policy, its implementation roadmap and focus areas including talent development, entrepreneurship promotion, industry participation, content creation and employment generation within the State.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Kiran Gitte said Tripura has witnessed notable progress in the information technology sector in recent years. He emphasised the State’s achievements in strengthening digital infrastructure, promoting technology-driven governance and expanding innovation and capacity-building initiatives.
The consultation also featured technical and sectoral sessions conducted by experts including Mr. Austin Davis from the National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar, and Mr. Manvendra Shukul from IICT. Professor Saikat Roy from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, shared insights into the rapidly evolving media and entertainment landscape and emerging opportunities in the AVGC-XR domain.
A special session focused on entrepreneurial success stories in the AVGC sector. Mr. Anurag Khurana, Founder of New Gen Gaming, and Mr. Vishal Parekh, Founder of Cyber Power, interacted with participants and discussed practical experiences related to enterprise development, innovation, market opportunities and pathways for local youth to engage with the fast-growing creative technology industry.
An interactive open forum was also organised during the programme, where participants deliberated on the key thrust areas of the proposed policy. Discussions centred on skill development, startup promotion, cultural content creation, employment generation and youth-led innovation. Stakeholders also offered suggestions to ensure that the policy remains aligned with the evolving needs of industry, academia, creators and students.
The Government of Tripura aims to position the State as an emerging AVGC-XR hub in the Northeast by leveraging its unique strengths and aligning with new-age industry opportunities.
