Agartala, Sept 5 (FD) Tripura has significant potential to emerge as an important centre for research in science and technology, Science, Technology and Environment Minister Animesh Debbarma said on Saturday, stressing the need to strengthen research infrastructure and provide better facilities and support to researchers.
Debbarma was speaking after inaugurating a workshop titled “Tech Talk DBT Meets the Scholar” at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala. The programme was organised by the Biotechnology Directorate and the State Biotechnology Council with the objective of promoting research, innovation and scientific temperament among students.

The Minister said Tripura has ample scope to develop into a significant research hub if researchers are provided with the necessary infrastructure, institutional support and opportunities. He stressed the importance of encouraging the younger generation to pursue research and innovation and ensuring that they receive adequate opportunities to translate their ideas into meaningful outcomes.
The welcome address was delivered by Anjan Sengupta, Joint Director of the Biotechnology Department. During the programme, Debbarma and other guests unveiled a book titled “College Biotech Club.” A documentary highlighting the activities of the College Biotech Club was also screened.
