Tripura govt to initiate Rs1300 cr tribal welfare project with World Bank’s support

Agartala, Sep 7 (FD) In order to develop the Janajati areas and improve socio-economic condition of the Janajati people, Tripura government has taken up a project of Rs 1300 crore funded by the World Bank, Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat the Tribal Welfare Minister said that the project initiated by the state government would be implemented in the 23 tribal dominated Blocks especially in 12 aspirational Blocks.
The project would focus on the livelihood of Janajati people along with improving quality of life and development of connectivity, Jamatia said adding the project would be launched for five years.
He also highlighted the economic development of the Janajati people through the Chief Minister's Rubber Mission implemented in the state.
In the press conference, the Tribal Welfare Minister hailed the role of the present government for taking various initiatives for the development of education in the Janajati areas. In this context he mentioned 16 Eklavya Model Residential Schools which are being set up in the state.
Besides, he also highlighted the Supplementary Education for Elementary Classes (SEEC)-2022 scheme under which a total of 300 coaching centres will be opened across the state to improve education for Janajati students as well as enrich them through the modern education system.
