Tripura Govt to connect 80 to 85 % houses through pipeline water facility

Agartala, Aug 17 (FD) Tripura government has a plan to connect about 80 to 85 percent households of the state through pipeline water facility soon, Water Resources and Public Health minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Tuesday.
“The Department of Drinking Water and Health Provisions, Government of Tripura has committed to provide clean drinking water to every citizen of Tripura state through tap water under Jal Jeevan Project.” Chowdhury said after inaugurating a Surface Water Treatment Plant in the Laldhahar area of Rajnagar Gram Panchayat under Kumarghat block.
The Ground Water Purification Plant with a capacity of 1.20 lakh gallons of water per day was setup under the initiative of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation at Fatikrai.
Addressing the gathering Chowdhury said, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of Tripura is working tirelessly day and night in ‘Mission Mood’ to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Har Ghar Jal slogan.
The minister said that there was a time when a large number of people used to die or get infected with water borne diseases but the scenario has changed after the Jal Jeevan Mission was taken up by the government.
Minister of Scheduled Caste Welfare and Livestock Development Department and MLA of Bhagaban Chandra Das, MLA Sudhanshu Das, Chief Executive of Drinking Water and Health Provision Department Shyamlal Bhowmik and other dignitaries were present on the inaugural programme. FD PD JK
