Tripura govt to appoint 6 Assistant Professors in TIT, increases SPOs’ monthly honorarium

Agartala, Sep 02: The Tripura cabinet has decided to appoint six Assistant Professors (technical) under the Higher Education department for Tripura Institute of Technology at Narsingarh.
The posts will be filled up by Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) soon, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Thursday.
The cabinet also approved increase of the honorarium of Special Police Officers (SPOs) from Rs. 6,156 to Rs. 7,079 per month.
The decisions were taken during the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday.
Announcing the cabinet decision on Thursday Chowdhury said, total 3911 SPOs are working under the Home department in the state.
Earlier, they used to get Rs. 6156 as monthly honorarium. Now, they would get Rs. 7079 per month, Chowdhury told reporters.
He said, the cabinet also decided to increase the salary of SPOs who are working as drivers.
As a result, 266 SPOs working as drivers will get a monthly salary of Rs. 9,000. Their increased pay will be effective from October, 2022.
