Agartala, July 8 (FD) The Tripura government has directed the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to strengthen its monsoon preparedness and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the state, with a special focus on faster restoration of power, improved consumer services and uninterrupted supply to essential institutions.
The directives were issued by Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath while chairing a high-level review meeting at the TSECL corporate office. Senior officials, including the Managing Director of TSECL, attended the meeting, while Power Department officials from West Tripura, Sepahijala and Khowai districts joined virtually.
Reviewing the state's power situation and monsoon preparedness, Nath said uninterrupted electricity supply during the rainy season remains a top priority of the government. He instructed officials to keep all field staff on high alert and ensure adequate manpower, vehicles and equipment are readily available to restore power quickly following disruptions caused by storms, heavy rainfall or other natural calamities.
The minister directed officials to respond promptly to every consumer complaint and strengthen round-the-clock emergency response mechanisms to minimise inconvenience to the public. He stressed that efficient and timely grievance redressal should remain a key focus during the monsoon.
Nath also laid special emphasis on prepaid electricity services, asking TSECL to work with technology experts and relevant agencies to introduce advanced solutions that would eliminate technical issues during prepaid electricity recharges and ensure seamless services for consumers.
He further instructed the utility to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply to hospitals, drinking water supply installations, key government offices and other critical infrastructure, while ensuring reliable power for both domestic and commercial consumers throughout the monsoon season.
The review meeting also assessed the status of electricity bill collection, round-the-clock service operations, consumer complaint redressal and the preparedness of various operational divisions to tackle emergencies. The minister reiterated the need to keep field personnel fully prepared to respond swiftly to any power disruption during the ongoing rainy season. FD JK
