Agartala, Aug 3 (FD) Tripura Government has deployed medical teams in two Integrated Check Posts (ICP) s along the Indo-Bangla international border in Tripura for screening of the passengers from neighboring Bangladesh if they were carrying the germs of Dengue as the state recently registered 92 such cases, official sources said today.
The Director of the Land Port Authority of India (LPI), Debasish Nandi said two medical teams were deployed at Agartala-Akhaura and Srimantapur ICPs in Sipahijala district since July 30 (Sunday) last for screening of dengue.
Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Supriya Mallik said, the state has registered 92 cases of dengue over the past few days from the areas adjacent to the neighbouring country and it is suspected that the disease is spreading from that country.
Giving details he said of the 92 cases 84 cases were detected from Melaghar and Dhanpur block areas of Sipahijala district bordering Bangladesh and added that the rest six cases were detected from Kanchanmal in West Tripura district, which is also not very far from Bangladesh border.
A six-member Rapid Response Team with specialist doctors was conducting special screenings in the dengue affected areas.
He said all precautionary measures were taken to check the disease and the situation is under control.
Even as Mallik denied causality of any person in Dengue in the state, he said, a 72-year-old man from Melaghar has recently died due to fever and medical examinations are on to find out if the person was really a victim of dengue. FD JK
