Agartala, Oct 15 (FD) In a significant move aimed at promoting the equitable representation of sub-tribes within the state's population, the Tripura state government has put forward a proposal to the central government to increase the number of Autonomous District Council (ADC) seats from 28 to 50.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made this announcement during a gathering at the Agartala Town Hall on Sunday, reaffirming the government's commitment to fostering the development of its people.
During the event, Chief Minister Dr. Saha emphasised that education remains the foremost priority for his government. He stressed the pivotal role of education as a driving force behind overall development in the region.
In addition to discussing education, Dr. Saha also addressed the issue of early marriages, advocating for their discouragement. He pointed out that early marriages can lead to personal and societal losses and urged individuals to prioritise education and career stability and then consider marriage.
Dr. Saha took pride in Tripura's traditional dance form, "Risa," gaining international recognition, and noted that the state government's initiatives align with those of the central government.
Furthermore, Dr. Manik Saha elaborated on the government's efforts to support students aiming to excel in national-level competitive exams through dedicated coaching programs. He reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to empowering the youth through education and training.
During the event, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presented merit awards to high-achieving tenth and twelfth-grade students from the Mog community. This event, organized by the Society for the Welfare of Mog Students at Agartala Town Hall, marked the 17th Merit Award and Freshers Meet for Mog community students. Distinguished guests, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, graced the occasion.
The educationally and culturally rich Mog tribes in the state play a vital role in Tripura's development, and the government's initiatives underscore its commitment to nurturing talent and fostering inclusive growth. FD SB
