Tripura Govt proposes Universal Health Insurance Scheme in State budget 2023-24

Agartala, July 07 (FD) The government of Tripura, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, has introduced an important proposal for a universal health insurance scheme in the State Budget 2023–24.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy presented the budget in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, highlighting the government's sensitivity to the medical needs of the people.
The proposed scheme, called "CM-Jan Arogya Yojana," is designed on the lines of Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY and aims to provide health insurance coverage to 4.75 lakh families in the state.
Each family will receive benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh per annum. Additionally, the scheme will cover State Government employees. A budget allocation of Rs. 59 crore per annum has been made for the implementation of this scheme.
Under the CM-Jan Arogya Yojana, the enrolled families will have access to a network of over 26,000 hospitals across the country, including 133 hospitals in Tripura that are empanelled under Ayushman Bharat. The scheme will offer cashless treatment benefits across various specialties and super specialties.
The State Budget for FY 2023–24 presented by the Finance Minister amounts to Rs. 27,654.40 crore, reflecting a 9.87 percent increase compared to the previous year's allocation. The budget deficit stands at Rs. 611.3 crore.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha described the budget as 'inclusive' and highlighted its focus on realizing the vision of "Unnata Tripura, Shrestha Tripura" and fulfilling the aspirations of the common people. FD SB
