Agartala, May 14 (FD) In anticipation of the approaching Cyclonic Storm "Mocha," the Tripura government is taking extensive measures to ensure preparedness, despite the storm's projected minimal impact on the state.
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha was held at the state secretariat on Saturday to discuss the necessary actions.
During the meeting, it was discussed that while the main thrust of the cyclonic storm is expected to bypass Tripura, heavy rainfall is still anticipated between May 14 evening and May 17. Expressing satisfaction over the briefing provided, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha urged all officials to remain on high alert in anticipation of the looming threat.
Meanwhile, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the landfall process of Cyclone Mocha began through Myanmar on Sunday afternoon.
As of 3 pm today, the current center of the 'Very Severe' Cyclonic Storm "Mocha" has crossed the Cox's Bazar-North Myanmar coast near Sittwe, as reported by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Despite the cyclone's limited impact on Tripura, the government's proactive approach emphasizes their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the state's residents in the face of potential adversities. FD PD
