Tripura govt observes National Unity Day in tributes to Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary

Agartala, Oct 31 (FD) National Unity Day is celebrated in India on 31 October. It was introduced by the Government of India in 2014. The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who had a major role in the political integration of India.
Tripura Government today observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day today. Many ministers of the state government today gathered at the Swami Vivekananda Ground here to pay respect to Patel, also known as the India’s iron man.
The state Youth Affairs and Sports Department oganised the event which was attended by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath, Industries and Commerce minister Santana Chakma, Youth Affairs and Sports minister Tinku Roy, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal.
Nath, an eloquent speaker said after the BJP government came to power in 2014 the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas across the country to create awareness among people about how he brought the princely states in the fold of the country.
A unity run was organized from the Swami Vivekanda Maidan, which was attended by hundreds of people and ended at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan. FD JK
