Tripura govt is working on several initiatives for welfare of eye patients: CM

Agartala, Jan 13 (FD) Tripura government has taken several initiatives for the welfare of eye patients and set up one eye surgery theatre in the hospital, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Friday.
Inaugurating the newly developed eye surgery theatre complex at Agartala Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital at Hapania, Dr Saha said, “The state government was working hard work for setting up one eye surgery theatre in the hospital. Finally we achieved it today”
He said, though the medical hospital was set up in 2005 but due to lack of land, construction the eye surgery theatre was delayed in the hospital. However the eye surgery theatre has been inaugurated today, he added.
The newly developed eye surgery theatre has been set up
in 2800 square feet of area in the ground floor of the hospital building at the cost of Rs 18.75 lakh. There are two operation theaters at the complex, he added.
The Chief Minister also said that several initiatives for the welfare of eye patients of the state are in the pipeline.
Chairman of TMC Society Dr Pramthesh Roy, CEO Swapan Saha, prominent eye surgeon Dr Akash Kumar Chakma and Medical superintendent Dr Jayanta Podder and others were present at the inaugural programme. FD PD JK
