Agartala, Oct 27 (FD) The Food Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, spearheaded the distribution of subsidized mustard oil to consumers in Agartala as part of the government's efforts to provide high-quality cooking oil at affordable prices.
The minister visited fair-priced shops in the capital, personally handing over subsidized mustard oil to ration cardholders and local consumers.
The initiative, which was previously announced, aims to ensure the availability of high-quality cooking mustard oil at government-subsidized prices, providing relief to the citizens of Tripura who stand to benefit from reduced cooking oil costs.
Minister Chowdhury addressed the public and expressed his concern over attempts by opposition parties to create confusion among the state's residents during the Sharadotsav festivities. He announced that consumers would benefit from a reduced price of Rs 100 per liter for mustard oil, significantly undercutting the prevailing market rates.
The move is expected to ease the financial burden on households and promote affordable access to essential cooking ingredients.
The event was attended by officials from the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs departments, dealers from fair price shops, and other dignitaries. FD SB
