Agartala, Nov 9 (FD) In a significant move supporting farmers' welfare, Tripura's Food and Agriculture Departments collaboratively launched the procurement of paddy for the current Kharif season at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 21.83 per kg.
The Minister for Food, Transport and Tourism departments, Sushanta Choudhury chaired a crucial meeting, urging farmers to sell their produce at various centres established across the state.
Choudhury urged farmers to contact agriculture or SDM (Food Dept.) offices for hassle-free selling. Emphasizing the seasonal practice's significance, he set a higher procurement target than the previous year.
Ensuring fairness, Choudhury stressed that no farmer should face pressure to sell below MSP, citing the success of the initiative since its initiation in 2018 under the BJP government.
The video conference included key officials from both departments, affirming the commitment to bolstering food grain stocks and supporting farmers' income. FD SB
