Agartala, July 2 (FD) The government of Tripura is making significant strides in improving the state's healthcare and veterinary services. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the newly constructed Primary Health Center, Animal Hospital, and Artificial Cow Breeding Center in Kanchanbari, Kumarghat subdivision, today.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Kanchanbari Motor Stand and was attended by prominent figures, including Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhanshu Das, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Rights Dr. Anjan Das, and Additional Director of the Animal Development Department BK Das. The event was presided over by Amlendu Das, President of Unkoti Zilla Parishad. Other notable attendees included Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sumati Das, Zilla Parishad Member Neelkant Sinha, District Magistrate DK Chakma, Police Superintendent Kanta Jangir, and Unkoti District CMO Dr. Shishendu Chakma.
The new Primary Health Center and Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Kanchanbari were constructed at a cost of ₹4.5 crore, while ₹82 lakh was spent on the Kanchanbari Animal Hospital and Artificial Cow Breeding Centre. Speaking at the public meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted that the new health center will benefit over 29,000 people from 11 Gram Panchayat and Village Committee areas, providing them with improved healthcare services.
Dr. Saha emphasized the government's commitment to revamping the medical system so residents no longer need to seek treatment outside the state. New departments have been launched under modern management at the main hospitals in the state, AGMC and GBP Hospitals. A kidney transplant facility will soon be available at these hospitals. Additionally, a dental college with 50 seats has been established at IGM Hospital, and plans are underway to introduce a DNB course with 20 seats, covering pediatrics, ophthalmology, preventive medicine, and women and obstetrics, with 50% of seats reserved for Tripura's children.
Dr. Saha also mentioned that the establishment of the advanced animal hospital and cow breeding center in Kanchanbari will greatly benefit local animal breeders, enhancing the rural economy. Minister Sudhanshu Das added that under the Chief Minister's Animal Husbandry Fund Scheme, financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year was provided to 3,000 animal husbandmen last year, with plans to extend the scheme to more beneficiaries this year.
