Agartala, Oct 30 (FD) In a positive gesture ahead of Diwali, the Tripura Government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, announced a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective from November 1. This decision, shared by Minister of Food and Transport Sushanta Chowdhury, came after a recent cabinet meeting.
With this additional 5% DA, state employees and pensioners will now receive a total of 30% DA, while central employees currently receive 53%. Minister Chowdhury emphasized that this adjustment, costing the state an estimated ₹500 crore annually, reflects the government’s commitment to improving employee welfare.
The move is expected to enhance the financial stability of over 1.6 lakh employees and 82,000 pensioners in Tripura, offering them added support for Diwali celebrations. This announcement underlines the state government’s dedication to addressing the needs of its workforce, signaling continuous efforts to bridge the gap with central DA rates. FD SB
