Agartala, July 19 (FD) Tripura's BJP state leader and Power Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, proudly announced that the state government, under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, has allocated 39.81% of the budget for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes (ST) people.
Speaking to the media at the BJP state headquarters, Nath accused certain political parties were misleading the public by giving wrong data.
He condemned their attempts to blame the state budget's failure on the issue.
The total budget for the upcoming financial year amounts to Rs 27,654.44 crore. Out of this, Rs 13,568.2 crore will be allocated to salaries, wages, loan repayments, interest payments, pensions, and other retirement benefits.
The remaining Rs 14,086.42 crore, representing 31% of the development funds, will be utilized for the overall development of the state.
Of this development budget, Nath revealed that 31% would be spent on the general public, while 17% would be directed towards Scheduled Castes (SCs). A significant portion, Rs 5608 crore, 72 lakh, and 67 thousand, has been earmarked in the Tribal sub-plan for the development and welfare of indigenous people.
According to the Nath, the allocation of 39.81% for indigenous people is an all-time high, demonstrating the government's dedication to their wellbeing. This endeavor builds on the constant trend established by the state administration in prior years, when more than 31% of the budget was set aside for the development of the people. FD SB JK
