Agartala, Jan 10 (FD) Tripura Governor, Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Friday appreciated the Government for its proactive approach in establishing peace and speeding up economic growth in the state.
He said the state has achieved significant growth in many fields including in progress of increased revenue collections for financial growth of the state and signing accords for restoration of peace and tranquility in the state.
The state has made impressive revenue generations, which collected Rs. 1005 crores in GST, Rs.307 crores in VAT and Rs. 231 crores in excise duties for the fiscal year 2024-25.
“The growth in tax collections was a clear indication of the state’s economic progress. In addition, 164 individuals had been honored for their timely payment of taxes which inspires others to follow suit”, Governor said.
Appreciating the state’s effort to restore peace he said, “In a significant development, the historic tripartite agreement signed on March 2, 2024, between the Government of India, the Tripura government and the Tipra Motha party, aimed at addressing the issues faced by the state’s indigenous communities”.
“Similarly, a peace agreement on September 5, 2024, between the Indian government, Tripura government, and two banned insurgent groups, the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). This accord led to the dismantling of these groups, bringing them into the mainstream. The government approved a Rs 250 crores package for the development of indigenous communities as part of this agreement,” the Governor added.
He appreciated the state Government’s steps to solve the 27 year old displaced Bru problems and impasse over settlement of them.
“Under the quadripartite agreement involving the central and state governments as well as Bru organizations, displaced families from Mizoram were provided with essential support, including land, housing assistance, and monthly cash support. The development of infrastructure in resettlement areas, including roads, schools, healthcare centers, and other public services also made available,” he noted.
The Governor also extended his condolences to the families, who lost their lives in the overwhelming floods in August last and appreciated the Government for providing financial assistance to the affected families and working with the Indian Air Force, state officials and volunteers to provide relief to the affected persons.
“Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Development for All) has been deeply reflected in Tripura’s growth. The support of the central government and the leadership of the state, which have led to significant advancements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and the welfare of indigenous communities,” he said.
