Tripura government is keen to convert more schools to English medium

Agartala, 29 Sep (FD) Education minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday said that altogether 148 schools have been converted to English medium so as to train students with their English speaking abilities.
He said this during inaugural programme of a newly built Old Agartala Government Degree at Tulakona High school at the old Agartala block, about 15 km from here.
He also said that next year Tulakona high school will be converted to higher secondary school.
The speaker of Tripura Legislative assembly Ratan Chakraborty inaugurated the building of the college.
The college compound spreads over 5 acres of land and an amount of 83 lacs was spent in establishing the college. The college will start the first session from this year, allowing admission to only 50 candidates. Presently the college comprises 11 classes.
At the function, Ratan Lal Nath said the government is following the prime ministers saying --‘Sabka saath, sabka vikas’. Thus developments in Education and educational institutes bring the government a step closer to their aim. He also said, 148 schools have been converted to English medium so as to train students with their English speaking abilities and next year Tulakona high school will be converted to higher secondary school.
Inaugurator Ratan Chakraborty quoted Swami Vivekananda in his speech and said that hidden talents in humans are only discovered through education. He said that the government is working to improve the standard of education in the state. It is the result of such work that a college is built in rural areas like Tulakona. He hopes students of great talents will come from this college in the future.
The function was also addressed by Old Agartala panchayat committee chairman Biswajit Shil and Secretary of the education department Sharadindu Chowdhury.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the chairmen of Tripura Board of Secondary Education Bhabatosh Saha, officer in higher education department N.C Sharma and social worker Amit Kumar Nandi. A speech of gratitude was presented by college’s associate professor Sumona Das.
