Agartala, Dec 12 (FD) Tripura Government has taken initiative for effective border securities after the situation in neighbouring Bangladesh took a new turn following the Prime Minister of the state was forced to take refuge in India.
Security was enhanced in different parts of the 856 km long porous border with the neighbouring country, even when the BSF is also keeping a close vigil on the situation and enhanced their strength in the border areas.
Recently a helicopter of Bangladesh army travelled through different border lines along the Sabroom town in South Tripura district that borders with the Chittagong Hill Tract of neighbouring Bangladesh.
The enhanced securities deployed by BSF and the CRPF and TSR along the Akhaura border following a call by an opposition BNP leader to protest against disrespecting the Bangladeshi flag by a group of Indian miscreants at the Asst. High Commission of the neighbouring country on December 2 last.
A strong group of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and CRPF today patrolled along the border in Belonia subdivision in South Tripura district.
The combined forces had travelled through the border of Belonia along Kalinagar, Giridhari Char Nang Bridge, Sarsima etc. to instill a sense confidence among the people living at Belonia, a highly proximate villages of Feni district in the neighbouring country.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Abhijit Das said, this patrolling is due to the “un-natural’ situations in the neighbouring country and it would continue. FD JK
