Agartala, September 18 (FD) Tripura government has announced to double all social security pension to Rs. 2,000 per beneficiary during the celebration of 'Prati Ghore Sushashon' or Har Ghar Susashan on the event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.
The hike of social security pension to Rs. 2,000 comes as a long awaited promise of the BJP-IPFT government made in its Vision Document prior to 2018 assembly election.
Speaking at an event of the Prati Ghore Sushashon at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala today, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, "We have started observing Prati Ghore Sushashon on the event of PM Modiji's birthday".
The CM said Tripura has Rs. 700 social security pension before BJP came to power in 2018.
"After our government came to power, the social security pension of Rs. 7,00 was increased to Rs. 1,000. We are announcing to hike it to Rs. 2,000 from today. It will come into effect right away", the CM said.
Saha said his government is working as per instructions of Prime Minister Modi.
Tripura currently runs 32 social security pensions including old age pensions and pensions for people of different vocations.
The abhiyan would run for three months till November and would work for beneficiary saturation by ensuring door-step delivery of major central and state government-run schemes through mission mode.
The scheme would also involve rural and urban local bodies to undertake developmental works.
The abhiyan is being implemented as per a comprehensive planning to hold field level camps and fairs at different levels to reach public scheme benefits to people.
Speaking at the event, the CM launched a scathing attack at the erstwhile Left Front government saying, "The previous government was limited to meetings and rallies alone. We have come out of that culture and have focused on development alone. We don't want to do negative publicity. There's no point in confusing people, when we can reach them all through work".
CM Saha, who's running the state government for last three months, said his government is working in the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas.
He claimed the success of BJP-led governments at the centre and state is evident from the "happiness" of people in the villages.
Saha has been in government for three months alone, since May when he replaced his predecessor Biplab Kumar Deb for no specific reason.
Admitting his lack of administrative experience, the CM still said the central government has been liberal in granting all sorts of grants, schemes and support to Tripura and said his government is busy in work to set up a medical College in the lines of AIIMS at Tripura, new degree colleges.
He said all his ministers are being "watched" to make sure they actually worked and said the central government is equally keeping watch on the state government.
Dr. Saha said the Proti Ghore Sushashon abhiyan would continue till November and said steps are being taken to ensure 100 percent targets under the initiative are fulfilled.
Shortly after Saha became Chief Minister in May this year, he announced a 100 days work target. Citing the target, he today said he would go to people with report card of achievements in the 100 days work target soon. FD JK
