Tripura Government decides to introduce biometric attendance system in all tribal hostels

Agartala, May 5 (FD) Tripura Government has decided to introduce biometric attendance system in all the tribal hostels run by the Tripura government, an official said today.
There are 164 tribal hostels of which 43 hostels are functioning under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
The biometric attendance systems would be installed to strictly monitor the presence of the students and their activities.
The minister for Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma called a review meeting to check the functioning of the tribal hostels and decided to provide better facilities to the tribal students, an official said adding that the decision to set up biometric devices in the hostels were taken then.
The boarders would use the biometric attendance system twice a day in the morning and evening, which would help the department to check the malpractices in the hostels.
The official said that the department spends Rs. 80 per day per student on food and there is a proposal to increase the money to Rs. 120 in view of the price rise.
The government has decided to introduce smart classes in 100 hostels and the rest hostels would also enjoy the facility in phased manner. The department would also provide digital library facilities with 5 g internet facilities so that the students can be benefitted.
He said the department has also proposed to hostel superintendents in all the hostels and steps are being taken to clean and green awards for the students. FD JK
