Tripura Government Allocates 50 Acres for Film and Television Institute at Bamutia

Agartala, Mar 15 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced the allocation of 50 acres of land for establishing a dedicated Film and Television Institute at Bamutia, located about 40 km from Agartala.
The announcement was made during a felicitation program for Biplab Goswami, a renowned screenwriter from Tripura, who gained national recognition for writing the screenplay of the Bollywood film Laapataa Ladies.
Speaking at the event, held at the temporary office of the Film and Television Institute at Nazrul Kalakshetra, the Chief Minister said, “Our government has decided to allocate 50 acres of land for the Film and Television Institute at Bamutia. We believe this initiative will create immense opportunities for aspiring actors, filmmakers, and technicians in the state.”
Dr. Saha also acknowledged Goswami’s significant contribution to Indian cinema.
“He is a rare talent from our state, and we take immense pride in his achievements. I have requested him to contribute to nurturing future filmmakers and help make the institute a success, as it will pave the way for many talented filmmakers, actors, and technicians,” he added.
The Chief Minister further expressed his optimism that Tripura would soon emerge as a prominent center for cinema, offering quality training in filmmaking and related fields.
The government also plans to collaborate with leading film personalities and industry experts to provide high-quality training for students at the institute. FD JK
