Agartala, June 29 (FD) The three-day Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 concluded on a grand and festive note, marking another milestone in promoting the state's world-famous GI-tagged Queen Pineapple on the global stage. The festival brought together farmers, entrepreneurs, buyers, government agencies, and visitors, creating new opportunities for branding, exports, value addition, and investment in Tripura's pineapple sector.
The closing ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, West Bengal Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Dilip Ghosh, B. Santhosh, and Sunil Deodhar. The dignitaries visited exhibition stalls, interacted with farmers and entrepreneurs, and appreciated the quality and commercial potential of Tripura's premium Queen Pineapple.
To encourage excellence among participants, awards were presented to the best exhibition stalls. The First Prize was jointly awarded to Tripura Forest Development & Plantation Corporation (TFDPC) and RNJ Agri-clinic and Agribusiness Pvt. Ltd. The Second Prize went to NERAMAC, while the Third Prize was awarded to the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).
One of the festival's major highlights was the presentation of the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag Certificate for Queen Pineapple to a farmer, accompanied by a cash award of ₹25,000. Two progressive farmers were also honoured with the Best Pineapple Grower Award, each receiving ₹25,000 for their remarkable contribution to pineapple cultivation.
Thousands of visitors also enjoyed complimentary distribution of Tripura's sweet and juicy GI-tagged Queen Pineapple, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Following the successful conclusion of the event, Tripura Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the festival's success. In his message, he thanked organisers, administrative officials, farmers, exhibitors, volunteers, participants, and well-wishers for their dedication and collective efforts.
The minister stated that the festival had successfully introduced Tripura's delicious pineapple to a wider global audience while reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening farmers' livelihoods and expanding market opportunities. He described the festival as a symbol of farmers' dreams, hard work, and future potential, urging everyone to continue working together to take Tripura's agriculture to greater heights.
The successful conclusion of the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 has further strengthened the state's reputation as a leading producer of premium-quality Queen Pineapple and reinforced its vision of expanding international market access through innovation, branding, and sustainable agricultural development.
