Tripura gears up for celebrations of Kharchi Puja festival

Agartala, Jun 24 (FD) Tripura is all set to celebrate the week-long Kharchi Puja, one of the largest festivals in the state, at the Chaturdash Devata Temple in Old Agartala. The festival will take place from June 26 to July 2, and it is expected that a significant number of devotees from Tripura and other parts of the country will flock to the temple.
The Chaturdash Devata Temple, established in 1761 by Maharaja Krishna Manikya, is dedicated to the worship of the fourteen goddesses, known as the presiding deities of the former royal family. The temple's unique feature of simultaneously worshiping fourteen goddesses attracts a large number of devotees each year.
As the state prepares for the smooth observance of the festival, Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya and Chief Minister Dr. Minik Saha have extended their warm greetings to the people of Tripura. The Governor expressed his good wishes and warm greetings, hoping that the festival would bring happiness, prosperity, peace, and brotherhood to the people of the state.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of Kharchi Puja as a festival of grand reunion, gaining popularity among the people of northeastern states over the years. He expressed his hope that the blessings of the fourteen goddesses would bestow health and prosperity upon the state and its people. FD PD
