Agartala, Sept 25 (FD) Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Thursday emphasized that every individual in society must take the responsibility of planting trees to safeguard human civilization. He said trees and the environment play a vital role in sustaining life, and to secure the future, everyone should contribute to plantation drives.
Speaking at the inauguration of a tree plantation drive held at Purba Takchaiya Village Office premises under Tulashikhar Block, the minister highlighted that more than 1,000 hectares of land in the state have already been utilized for bamboo cultivation. He added that under the Bio-Village scheme, various development programs will be launched to ensure financial self-reliance of tribal communities in the Tulashikhar Block.
The minister further announced that with World Bank support, four new roads will be constructed in the Asharambari area to strengthen connectivity with the Khowai subdivision. He directed concerned officials to ensure that streams and rivers in the region remain free from pollution.
Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, MLA Kalyani Saha Roy, also addressed the gathering, stressing that both blood donation and tree plantation are noble acts vital for human life. “A single drop of blood can save a life, just as a tree protects the environment and supports civilization,” she remarked.
The event was presided over by Khowai Zonal Chairman Bishu Debbarma and attended by senior officials including Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Panth, Superintendent of Police Ranaditya Das, and Forest Department Principal Secretary R.K. Shyamal. A voluntary blood donation camp was also organized on the occasion, along with ceremonial tree plantation by the dignitaries. FD SB
