Agartala Apr 21 (FD) A year after the passing of Paresh Biswas, his family in Kanchanmala continues to endure severe hardship, struggling to meet even the most basic needs. The absence of a steady income has left the household—comprising his elderly mother, ailing wife Monika Biswas, and two young daughters—grappling with daily survival and uncertainty about the future.
The situation drew administrative attention after being highlighted in local media, prompting West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar to personally intervene. On Tuesday afternoon, he visited the family’s modest residence in Ward No. 3 under Bishalgarh subdivision to assess their condition firsthand and provide immediate support.
During the visit, Dr. Kumar interacted closely with the family, listening to their concerns and understanding the depth of their challenges. In a meaningful gesture, he provided the two daughters with school uniforms, books, and notebooks, aiming to ensure that their education does not suffer despite financial adversity.
Monika Biswas, who has been the sole earning member through domestic work, has also been battling health issues, limiting her ability to sustain the family. The elderly mother, bedridden and unable to contribute, further compounds the family’s vulnerability.
Dr. Kumar assured the family that all possible assistance would be extended through available government schemes and welfare initiatives. He emphasized that the administration remains committed to supporting vulnerable citizens and addressing urgent needs within its jurisdiction.
Local residents welcomed the District Magistrate’s compassionate outreach, noting that such direct engagement reflects a responsive and humane governance approach. The visit has not only provided immediate relief but also restored hope among the family members, underscoring the impact of timely administrative intervention. FD JK
