Agartala, Dec 18 (FD) The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, is proud to announce that it has been honored with the 15th National Digital Transformation Award 2024 for its outstanding achievements in IT initiatives. This prestigious award, presented by Gov-Connect (an iLougue Media initiative), recognizes the department's exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality services, driving innovation, and fostering positive change in the state.
The Digital Transformation Awards are conferred annually and stand as a beacon of recognition and inspiration. Their mission is to spotlight individuals, organizations, and initiatives that have harnessed the potential of digital technology to drive significant change, growth, and impact. This event is a tribute to those who have dared to innovate, adapt, and lead in the digital age.
The Directorate of Information Technology received the award for implementing the Beneficiary Management System (BMS-DBT platform) initiative, which has significantly improved the state's benefits delivery system.
The department's award-winning initiative, the Beneficiary Management System (BMS-DBT platform), was introduced in 2020-21 and has since onboarded 100 welfare schemes from 23 departments in an end-to-end online mode. Out of the total 39,48,350 population as per the Tripura Ration Card Database, around 11,60,912 beneficiaries have been covered so far, with ₹1594.30 crore disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Key features of the BMS include accountability, transparency, elimination of fake beneficiaries, improvement in the benefits delivery process, paperless processing, significant reduction in response times, and increased citizen engagement.
The 15th National Digital Transformation Conclave 2024 took place on December 13, 2024, in Guwahati, Assam, where Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS, Director of IT, Government of Tripura, was invited as a key speaker. During the conclave, Shri Geshan showcased various initiatives undertaken by the state of Tripura. Following the conclave, during the awards ceremony, Shri Geshan received the prestigious award.
The event was attended by government officials from the Cabinet Secretariat, NIC, NEGD, MeitY, and various state departments, including Education, Health, Agriculture, Rural Development, Home Affairs, and Labor. Representatives from public sector undertakings (PSUs) and other IT agencies were also present.
The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), functioning under the Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Tripura, was formed in 1999 with the vision of transforming Tripura into a developed and empowered state. The department has consistently worked to meet the evolving needs of the state by delivering innovative and effective solutions that make a measurable difference in the lives of its citizens.
This recognition comes at a pivotal time for DIT, as it continues to roll out various e-Governance initiatives aimed at further improving service delivery and ensuring greater efficiency and transparency in all operations.
