Agartala, Nov 14 (FD) The lone Congress MLA to Tripura state assembly, Sudip Roy Barman, on Monday demanded the BJP-led government to initiate a "special audit" on the income or donations and expenditure received during the COVID-19 pandemic before the general public by next December.
Taking a dig at the transparency of the BJP-led government in Tripura, the Congress MLA said the government would accept if it felt that transparency had been maintained.
Barman, who was the health minister in BJP government and later dropped allegedly for his anti-party activity said, “Large number of interim health care institutions have been opened, many common people, organizations have contributed to the Chief Minister's relief fund and even central government has released funds and various machines and equipment have been purchased. But has there been any audit? .
He asked the government to release a "special audit" revealing how much money was spent on which sector?
“Moreover, a bulk of monitors were purchased for the Trauma Care Centre in the premises of AGMC and GBP Hospital here in Agartala city, but at present, are those working? Why are the monitors not replaced? Hence, we, on behalf of people, are demanding a special audit by December next”, he said during a press conference at Congress Bhavan here on Monday. FD PD JK
