Agartala, Aug 17 (FD) Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha chaired a review meeting of the Tripura Jal Board at the Secretariat Conference Hall, stressing the state government’s commitment to ensuring safe and clean drinking water for every household. The Chief Minister said keeping every citizen healthy remains one of the government’s key objectives and highlighted the importance of strengthening drinking water services across the state.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Saha reviewed the quality of drinking water being supplied at different locations and sought detailed information from officials on the existing arrangements. He stressed the need for effective measures to prevent the wastage of drinking water and called for continuous improvements in water supply systems.
The Chief Minister also placed special emphasis on conserving the water resources of Tripura’s 12 rivers. He advised officials to take steps for the speedy construction of small barrages wherever necessary to support water conservation and management. He further directed officials to undertake necessary initiatives to ensure the supply of iron-free drinking water to residents.
Dr. Saha emphasized that water supply infrastructure must undergo regular maintenance and improvement to ensure uninterrupted and quality services. He said continuous sample studies should be carried out to monitor water quality and maintain appropriate standards. The Chief Minister also called for the development of modern infrastructure to provide transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly services.
During the review, Dr. Saha examined the progress of several important projects undertaken by the Tripura Jal Board. These included groundwater treatment plants, surface water treatment plants and drinking water supply arrangements in Agartala city. He also reviewed the progress of other ongoing works and projects being implemented by the board.
Tripura Jal Board Chief Executive Officer Mihir Kanti Gop briefed the Chief Minister on various projects and initiatives. These included groundwater and surface water treatment plants, AMRUT 2.0 projects, beautification of different water bodies and the use of SCADA technology for improved water management. Officials also briefed the Chief Minister on initiatives involving robotics and artificial intelligence for maintenance and other operational activities.
Public Works Department Secretary Kiran Gitte and Urban Development Department Secretary Milind Ramteke also apprised the Chief Minister of developments related to their respective areas. GA (P&T) Department Secretary Apurba Roy provided updates on relevant matters.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid A, the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, and senior officials from the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department and Tripura Jal Board were also present at the meeting.
The review meeting highlighted the state government’s focus on improving drinking water quality, conserving water resources, upgrading infrastructure and ensuring reliable water supply services for citizens across Tripura. FD SB
