Agartala, Nov 21 (FD) With the aim of strengthening the bond of national unity, peace, harmony and cultural heritage of the country, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has inaugurated the 'Heritage Fest - 2022' at Umakanta Academy premises here on Sunday.
He was accompanied by Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Deepak Majumder.
Addressing the occasion, Dr. Saha highlighted and honored the traditional culture of the 19 tribes of the state.
“Tripura is very rich in culture and the language, art, culture and dress of the 19 tribal communities of the state are traditional and fascinating,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that by organizing the heritage festival, there is an opportunity to learn about each other's art, culture, language as well as the ancient history of different states of India.
He said, “The states of North Eastern region including Tripura have been termed as Ashtalakshi, which
have gained recognition in the country for their art and culture.”
The Chief Minister said that about 65 percent of the country's human resources are the youth.
About 380 youths from 18 states of the country participated in this festival.
In a social media post Dr Saha welcomed and congratulated the youth representatives of 18 states of the country who participated in this festival.
He wrote, “I warmly welcome and congratulate the youth representatives of 18 states of the country who participated in this festival organized by Yuva Vikash Kendra. Youth is the strength of the country and the future of the country. I wish all the success of this festival.”
Aroorv N. Bajaj, Managing Trustee of Bajaj Foundation and Uday Shankar Singh, Chief Controller of Vishwa Yuva Kendra were also present as guests at the inauguration ceremony of the eight-day long programme.
This heritage festival will continue till November 27. FD PD JK
