Tripura CM Inaugurates 73rd B N Mullick Police Football Championship

Agartala, Feb 24 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated the 73rd B N Mullick Smriti All India Police Football Championship 2024-25 at Umakanta Academy Football Stadium here.
“One and a half century old Tripura police is linking a golden chapter in the state’s sports history. 1400 players from 46 police (Women and men) football teams from different states across India will participate in this 12-day tournament in 5 locations of three districts. I welcome them all to this kingdom”, Saha said in his welcome address.
He said Tripura police has a glorious history of spanning 150 years, which has been determinedly working to uphold democracy, ensure peace and built a reputation of sports.
The 12-day tournament will continue till March 7 in three districts – West Tripura, Gomati and South Tripura.
“Football is a game that builds up bridge to connect people from different backgrounds and also help good relations from different states”, he said.
Tripura is a well secured state, where ‘Act East policy’ is being implemented under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Saha said.
“The HIRA Model of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being successfully implemented in this state. Six National highways are progressing to give a better connectivity to the state and the newly built Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport is now a modern airport which has improved air connectivity”, he added.
Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan and state’s Sports Minister Tinku Roy were also present in the occasion. FD JK
