Agartala, Dec 07 (FD) In a goodwill gesture, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has taken positive initiative to help out Ankita Debnath, a digital content creator of the state who has been struggling hard for life in the third stage of cancer for the last few months.
She has been undergoing treatment at a hospital outside Tripura.
Dr Saha after seeing the humanitarian appeal on a social media post and instantly replied from his official handle. He handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakhs to Ankita’s mother in his office at the state Civil Secretariat on behalf of the state government on Tuesday.
Ankita’s mother expressed her gratitude to the chief minister and his government for the generous help extended for her daughter’s treatment.
Later, in a social media post the Chief Minister expressed his good wish that Ankita will defeat the disease and recover soon.
“I firmly believe that Ankita will defeat cancer and get well soon. I pray for her speedy recovery,” Dr Saha wrote from his Facebook handle.
Meanwhile, TIPRA Motha Supromo, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also announced that he has extended financial support for the treatment of Ankita.
Announcing that in a social media post Debbarma wrote, “I am extending financial help to this wonderful woman whom I had met at the Delhi airport with her husband! I don't have their contact details but came to know from people and social media that she is unwell and undergoing treatment.”
He also called upon people to extend their helping hands to support her.
“I urge all to help her fight and defeat cancer. I stand with you Ankita Debnath in your fight against cancer you will win,” Debbarma wrote.
Later, on Wednesday, he contacted Ankita through video calling and took information about her physical and mental condition.
Besides, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhowmik, interacted with her through video calling on Tuesday and motivated her to increase her willpower to fight the disease.
Ankita, who is undergoing chemotherapy at a hospital outside the state, disclosed her condition in a Facebook post and expressed her gratitude to those who prayed for her and extended a helping hand.
“I thank everyone who has been praying for me and extending a helping hand right now,” She wrote.
