Agartala, Aug 30 (FD) Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb received a warm welcome in Agartala on Sunday following his appointment as a national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party leaders and workers gathered in large numbers to congratulate Deb on his new organisational responsibility.
A felicitation and greetings programme was organised at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in the state capital. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha addressed the gathering and congratulated Deb on his appointment, extending his best wishes for his new role at the national level.
BJP Tripura Pradesh president Abhishek Debroy, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, ministers, legislators, senior party leaders and a large number of party workers and supporters attended the programme.
In his address, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said the BJP is a party driven by its workers and focused on serving the people. He stressed that party workers continue to operate in accordance with the BJP's policies, ideology, discipline and organisational principles.
Saha also highlighted the party's efforts to strengthen its organisational structure down to the grassroots level. He said a united effort was continuing to ensure that the benefits of various government initiatives reach the last person in society.
The Chief Minister described Deb's appointment to the BJP's national organisational leadership as a significant responsibility and conveyed his confidence in his ability to contribute effectively to the party at the national level.
Earlier in the day, Deb was given an enthusiastic reception at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala after returning to Tripura in his new organisational capacity. BJP state president Abhishek Debroy, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Minister Tinku Roy, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and numerous party workers and supporters were present at the airport.
The reception reflected the enthusiasm among BJP workers over Deb's elevation to a key position in the party's national organisation. Deb thanked party workers and supporters for the warm welcome and expressed gratitude for their affection and enthusiasm.
At the evening programme, senior BJP leaders and elected representatives joined the felicitation and conveyed their greetings to Deb. Leaders said his political and organisational experience would be valuable in carrying out the responsibilities assigned to him by the party's national leadership.
The gathering also highlighted the BJP's continued focus on strengthening its organisational network at the grassroots level. Party leaders expressed confidence that, under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Deb would successfully discharge his new responsibilities and contribute to further strengthening the organisation.
Deb's appointment has generated considerable enthusiasm within the BJP in Tripura, where he remains an important political figure. His return to the state after taking up the national assignment provided an opportunity for party workers and leaders to publicly congratulate him and reaffirm their support.
