Agartala, Jan 12 (FD) Ensuing Tripura assembly election isnot like the past ones, this time the election is very important not only forthe people of Tripura but also for the people of the other states of thecountry, General Secretary CPIM Tripura Unit, Jiten Choudhury said on Thursday.
Addressing a public rally at Sonaibazar under Sabroomsub-division Choudhury said, “Every election is important but this election ismore important than any other elections held in the past. This election hascome with the importance not only for the people of Tripura but also for thepeople of the country to the election commission of India.”
A team of the Electoral Commission of India arrived hereon Yesterday and held an all party members meeting in order to conduct a fairelection in Tripura.
Expressing hope Choudhury said, the election commission willsoon declare the date of election in the three states of the North Easternregion.
He said, “The team of Election Commission has already leftTripura on Thursday for Meghalaya to review the preparations of the forthcomingassembly polls in the states. The team will then visit Nagaland, another pollbound state of the region and finally the team will return to Delhi on January15 next.”
“After returning to Delhi, the Election Commission willlikely announce the schedule of the election in three northeastern states,”Choudhury added.
The CPIM leader also said, the party leaders have urged theElection Commission to hold the ensuing assembly elections in a free, fair andpeaceful manner.
Criticizing the BJP senior leader and Home Minister of IndiaAmit Shah, Choudhury said, Shah is bringing a dozen Union Ministers from otherstates to the poll bound Tripura who are making false promises and hope likethey did before 2018 polls to the people of the state.
Highlighting CPIM’s contribution in providing livelihood forthe poor people of the state during the left party regime, Choudhury said, “Duringthe CPIM period, those poor people of the state who did not have lands, thegovernment gave them land for cultivation and earn livelihood by themselves.”
The Left Front government had provided a platform for thechildren of the poor to become doctors, engineers, and police officers, Choudhurysaid, adding if CPIM did not fight with Congress before 30 years ago then thesethings would not have happened.
He alleged that after the BJP government came into power inthe state they set several party offices of CPIM on fire.“BJP government after doing all the bad work and crimes nowthey are promoting ‘Susashan’ by posting flex by wasting lakhs of rupees,”Choudhury said.
Pointing out Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha’s comment that theBJP government has brought up a wave of development in Tripura, Choudhuryclaimed that about 1.5 lakh people those who were getting social allowancesearlier, now there name have been erased without any reason and still the BJP-ledgovernment who already ruled the state for about 56 month, is claiming they increasedsocial allowances to Rs 2000.Taking a swipe at BJP's Ratha Yatra in the state ahead ofassembly elections, Choudhury said, “BJP is trying to hide their crimes bydoing Ratha Yatra.” FD PD JK
