Agartala, Oct 11 (FD) Tripura is all set to welcome President Draupadi Murmu on her maiden visit to the northeastern state of Tripura on October 12 and 13, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said on Tuesday.
It will be her first visit to any Northeastern states of India after she was elected as the President of the country.
The state BJP president thanked central government for given special attention to the Northeastern states including Tripura.
“In line the aim of making ‘A Tripura Best Tripura’ the central government is sending several Union Ministers to the state,” he said.
Bhattacharjee lauded the current BJP government led by Narendra Modi saying that the North-Eastern states had been neglected since independence before the formation of the BJP government at the Centre. The scenario of the state has changed after BJP-IPFT government formed in 2018, he added.
Bhattacharjee also thanked central government for approving a proposal sent by former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for issuing a Commemorative Postage Stamp on Tripura’s last king, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
Replying to a question, Bhattacharjee said, whether BJP would forge an alliance with IPFT in the next assembly elections comes under the discretion of the BJP central committee.
BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty and MDC Bimal Chakma were also present in the press conference. FD PD JK
