Tripura aims for science promotion with Rs 50 crore project

Agartala, Nov 29 (FD) In a bid to promote science and technology awareness among students in Tripura, the North Eastern Council and the Ministry of Culture have sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the establishment of a science park, theme-based galleries, and planetariums in the Science City.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of fostering interest in science and technology among students through innovative programs. He urged the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment to coordinate with relevant departments and create action plans for project implementation.
During the 37th Executive Committee Meeting of the Tripura State Council of Science &
Technology (TSCST), Director of Science, Technology, and Environment Department, Animesh Das, shared that Rs 10.29 crore from the North Eastern Council and an additional Rs 40 crore from the Ministry of Culture have been sanctioned for the Science City project.
Chief Minister Saha highlighted the need for regular reviews to identify further science and technology development programmes in the state. The initiative aims to make science more accessible to students and the public, fostering a culture of curiosity and exploration.
The meeting included officials from the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment, the Higher Education Department, and other relevant authorities. FD SB
