Agartala, Aug 15 (FD) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, expressed his government's commitment to the comprehensive development of the state, targeting an impressive 8% growth in the ongoing financial year. During the Independence Day celebration at Assam Rifles Ground, he highlighted the BJP-IPFT government's multifaceted approach in their 2023–24 fiscal year budget. This approach encompasses crucial areas like healthcare, infrastructure, education, and farmer welfare.
Dr. Saha said "We are dedicated to fulfilling the aspirations of our constituents, having earned their trust for a second term.". He proudly mentioned the state's successful trajectory, achieving an impressive 8.5% growth in the previous financial year (2022–23). Setting an ambitious goal, Saha mentioned that the government aims to exceed the projected national figure of 6.5% real GDP growth for 2023–24.
The budget reflects an amplified investment in critical sectors including health, education, agriculture, and tribal welfare. Saha emphasised the state's commitment to a holistic development strategy, encapsulated in the slogan "Unnata Tripura, Samriddha Tripura" (Developed Tripura, Prosperous Tripura). This strategy encompasses various aspects such as indigenous welfare, women's empowerment, industry, infrastructure, and more.
Significantly, the Chief Minister pledged a substantial investment of Rs 2,000 crore over the next five years to enhance the education system. Notably, the state has recruited 8,420 teachers through Teacher Eligibility Tests (TET) since the BJP's assumption of power, furthering its commitment to education.
Saha stressed the state's attractiveness for entrepreneurs, revealing that the Asian Development Bank plans to invest Rs 1,200 crore for industrial infrastructure development over the next five years. In line with the Prime Minister's slogan from the last assembly polls, the government's continuous endeavour is to transform Tripura into "Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura" (One Supreme Tripura). FD SB
