Tribal youths get battery-operated auto-rickshaws at Khumulwng

Agartala, Sept 12 (FD) In an effort to to empower the indigenous tribal youths of the state, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) provided battery-operated three-wheelers (E-autos) to 215 beneficiaries at an event held at Khumpui Academy school ground at West Tripura’s Khumulwng on Wednesday.
The event was flagged off by Tipra Motha Supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and BJP MP Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma the new vehicles and handed over the keys to the beneficiaries
Chief Executive Member of TTAADC Purna Chandra Jamatia, different elected representatives and officials of the TTAADC and officials of Tripura Gramin Bank were also present in the function.
TTAADC administration launched an autorickshaw loan scheme – Tipra-Ham (Tripura Indigenous People’s Livelihood Resource Assistance and Help for Advancement of Micro Entrepreneurship) to encourage entrepreneurship livelihood in July last.
The portal of Tipra-Ham allows the facility to apply for loan subsidies to purchase autorickshaws.
In the loan scheme, the beneficiaries would get a 20 per cent subsidy from the TTAADC and could avail loan at the lowest interest rate from Gramin Bank. However, the beneficiaries need to give 15 per cent of the total amount of the loan.
A total of 600 beneficiaries have been selected for the Tipra-Ham scheme.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tripura Gramin Bank and TTAADC to provide financial assistance to boost economic growth in remote and tribal-dominated regions of the state. FD JK
