Tragic rainfall incidents in Tripura: Six-year-old child died, houses were damaged.

Agartala, Jul 03 (FD) Heavy rainfall in Tripura during July has led to devastating consequences, with at least nine houses damaged and 56 individuals seeking shelter.
Amidst the deluge, a heartbreaking incident occurred in the Jirania Sub-division under the West District, where one six-year-old child lost their life. The report from the State Emergency Operation Centre highlighted that on July 1, one house was severely damaged and eight houses were partially affected.
To provide relief to the affected families, the District Administration promptly opened a shelter house at Pratapgarh English Medium School in Agartala, where 20 families comprising the 56 individuals sought refuge after floodwaters invaded their homes. Authorities are providing essential supplies such as food, water, and relief materials to assist the displaced.
Furthermore, the report indicates that a landslide occurred in the Shilghati area of the Gomati district, leading to two individuals being trapped beneath the soil. Sadly, a six-year-old named Sajeda Begam succumbed to the incident, while a five-year-old named Alisha Begam sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Gomati District Hospital.
Authorities have also issued a warning of thunderstorms, with lightning expected to occur in isolated areas across all districts of Tripura tomorrow. The local fire service, despite being delayed by a previous fire call, was eventually notified of the tragic incident involving a six-year-old girl named Sajeda Begam, who lost her life when a substantial portion of a hillock collapsed near her home in Kakraban. Another individual, Hasina Begam, sustained injuries and is currently recovering at the Gomati District Hospital in Udaipur. FD SB
