Agartala, Sept 20 (FD) Another heart-wrenching incident: another member of the retrenched 10,323 teachers in Tripura, Bankesh Debbarma (38), passed away last Monday, adding to the toll of suffering in this ongoing issue. His death marks the 160th loss within the teacher community over the past three and a half years, with approximately 35 individuals taking their own lives due to frustration and despair.
A resident of Dongorbari village, Bankesh Debbarma, has been serving as a graduate teacher since 2010. His retrenchment in April 2020 left him in financial turmoil, deep depression, and struggling to support his family. Battling a neurological illness, he was admitted to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his condition at GBP Hospital.
Leaders of the Joint Movement Committee (JMC), leading the fight for the reinstatement of these teachers, expressed shock and urged the government to reconsider, emphasizing the urgent need for reinstatement to prevent further tragedies. FD SB
