Agartala, Sept (FD) The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has announced plans to lay siege to the Director General of Police (DGP) office on September 23, protesting the alleged partiality of the state police. The move follows instructions from All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary, Christopher Tilak, after consultations with senior party leaders and frontal wing chiefs.
TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha accused the police of favoring the ruling BJP, claiming, "Despite numerous complaints, the police fail to take action against crimes, while Congress leaders and workers are being falsely implicated." The protests will be held in Agartala, with supporters from across the state expected to converge at Fire Brigade Chaumuhuni.
Saha further criticized the government's handling of the recent floods, stating that relief funds remain unaccounted for and that the police have adopted a "one-eye policy." Senior Congress leaders also raised concerns over increasing violence, unemployment, and rampant corruption in the state under the BJP regime. FD SB
