Agartala, Mar 12 (FD) The people's representatives of the three-tier panchayats and various government departments should work in coordination for the welfare of the common people of the state. Public representatives should always stay connected with the people, as only then can the state progress at a rapid pace. This was stated by Tourism Minister Sushanta Choudhury at the general body meeting of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad, held in the conference hall of the West Tripura DM office on March 12.
Speaking at the meeting, Tourism Minister Sushanta Choudhury emphasized that people's representatives and government employees play a crucial role in implementing the state government's various development plans. If they remain active, the state will witness significant progress in sectors such as drinking water, education, housing, roads, electricity, agriculture, irrigation, social welfare, social education, and industry. He urged the representatives of the three-tier panchayats to inform the concerned department about drinking water issues in their respective areas. A dedicated team will be formed to address the drinking water problems in Mandai, Jirania, Belbari, and Old Agartala blocks.
During the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad and Deputy Commissioner of West Tripura District, Dr. Vishal Kumar, urged the concerned departments to coordinate with the representatives of the three-tier panchayats to ensure the effective implementation of each project. He highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural and Urban), 47,000 houses have been constructed so far in Phase I and Phase II.
The Social Education Department’s Inspector of West Tripura District informed that approval has been received from the District Magistrate of West Tripura for the infrastructure development of 34 Anganwadi centers in the district. Currently, a total of 85,599 people are receiving social pensions.
The manager of the District Industrial Centre stated that under the Prime Minister’s Employment Guarantee Scheme (PMEGP), the target is to provide loans to 309 unemployed youths in the district during this fiscal year, out of which 143 loans have already been sanctioned. Additionally, under the Swabalamban scheme, there is a target to provide loans to 1,014 people, and applications from 151 individuals have already been approved.
The Additional General Manager of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited reported that 2,144 people have enrolled in the PM Surya Ghar Mufat Bijli Yojana in the West Tripura district, with the project successfully implemented in 130 houses so far.
Officials from the departments of Public Works, Education, Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana also participated in the discussions. PRESS RELEASE
