Total five including two PPP model Degree Colleges to come up in Tripura: Education Minister

Agartala, Sept 17 (FD) Tripura government has decided to set up five more Degree Colleges including two PPP model colleges from the current academic year, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat Nath said, three Degree Colleges would be set up at government’s initiative and the remaining two would be established in PPP model.
The state government has signed MoU with Anandanagar Welfare Society of West Bengal and Downtown Trust of Assam for setting up two colleges in PPP model, he said.
According to Nath, the Anandanagar Welfare Society expressed desire to introduce two colleges at Jirania and Kakraban form the current Academic Year. Among them, a Law College would come up at Jirania and Tripura University already gave recognition for the proposed college.
The new Law College would have BA LLB Integrated Programme (5 years), B.Com LLB Integrated Programme (5 years) and LLB Course (3 years).
He also said, a General Degree College would start functioning at Kakraban for which the government already issued notification for admission. Besides, another Degree College would come up at Old Agartala.
Nath also said, the state government took an initiative for setting up another college at Panisagar with 100 seats while the proposed English medium College would start academic activities with 50 seats at Old DIET College.
