Agartala, Aug 3 (FD) As Tripura gears up for the upcoming Village Committee (VC) and urban local body elections, both the ruling BJP and its ally Tipra Motha have stepped up organisational preparations, with the latter announcing a major restructuring of its party and frontal organisations after the VC polls.
Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma on Monday said the party would undertake a comprehensive organisational overhaul covering its frontal wings—the Tipra Youth Federation (TYF), Tipra Women's Federation (TWF), Tipra Indigenous Students' Federation (TISF), Tipra Citizens' Federation (TCF)—as well as the main party organisation.
In a social media post, Debbarma said the restructuring would focus on strengthening the organisation with individuals who are honest, committed and share the party's vision for the future of Tripura and the nation.
"The entire TYF, TWF, TISF, TCF and the Tipra Motha party will be restructured after the VC elections," he said.
He also warned against opportunism within the organisation, making it clear that only dedicated members would have a place in the party's future structure.
"Those who are honest committed and share the vision of a better future for our state and nation will know what I am saying. There will be no space for opportunistic people," Debbarma added.
The announcement signals a significant organisational reset within Tipra Motha, with the leadership expected to reassess the party's structure and strengthen its grassroots base following the VC elections.
Meanwhile, the Tripura BJP has also intensified its organisational activities ahead of the local body elections. State BJP president Abhishek Debroy said the party is reviewing its organisational strength across all districts to ensure a strong performance in the upcoming Village Committee, Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council elections.
Debroy, accompanied by ministers Tinku Roy and Santana Chakma, BJP General Secretary Bhagaban Das and other senior leaders, held meetings with local party workers and office-bearers to assess the organisation's preparedness and formulate an electoral strategy recently.
He said the discussions focused on identifying organisational gaps, addressing shortcomings and strengthening the party's grassroots network.
Debroy said as several important elections are ahead of the prty including Village Committee, Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council elections, we are taking preparations”.
He added that similar organisational review meetings are being conducted across the state.
The BJP chief said the party's immediate priority is to further consolidate its organisational structure, enhance coordination with grassroots workers and ensure effective election preparedness across Tripura.
With both the BJP and Tipra Motha focusing on organisational strengthening, political activity in the state is expected to intensify in the run-up to the crucial local body elections. FD JK
